For Pure Filth’s next offering our resident veterans the Equalizers are back with a feel-good anthem for everyone who loves the old skool vibe. Don’t Rely (On the Radio) is a collaboration with London based song-writer Vonesvonic, and is a nostalgic reflection on the golden era of music radio.

Combining the Equalizers deft touch with catchy hooks, club-stepping beats and Vonesvonic’s vocal styling this is a real crowd pleaser which should attract prime time radio play as much as it will dominate dancefloors this year. Calling all raving cru!

On remix duties Wicky Lindow’s Marchmellow turns in a superb dubstep interpretation which makes great use of the vocal with a more blunted approach and a fantastically deep half-time drop. A squelchy bassline twists under hypnotic vocal delays all coming together to form a subliminal whole which will suit festival sets or late night parties equally. Blazing!

The final remix in the package comes courtesy of Tomb Crew who are dominating clubland with their eclectic selections influenced by grime, dubstep, jungle and much more. A truly authentic slice of nuskool hardcore with rolling amen breaks, housey keys and a pinpoint, bouncing sub bassline this is a wonderful glimpse into how the rave scene used to sound, updated and elevated to maximum effect. Absolutely massive, and guaranteed to be raising hands and lighters in your area. Respect!

After the widespread mayhem and critical acclaim of the Blood Sport EP the Equalizers have teamed up with the Magnet Men to furnish your ears with another killer EP of two singles in the form of ‘The Illness’and ‘Emetic.’

The Illness blazes with stripped down percussions, a haunting middle-eastern backdrop, a sitar and ethnic vocals which unravel into an upfront pressure drop chockabloc with the Equalizers trademark energy, sick edits and dancefloor fire. Brokout!

Two basslines chase each other like Itchy and Scratchy on steroids as hi-octane sub-low pulses ricochet around a modulated throbbing bass while a hell-for-leather break slews the riddim section. Luscious washes of fizzy pads and synths keep everything else grooving while you’re being chased through the deep desert in Hummers full of gold bullion! Hold it down! For the digital-only crew there is an absolutely dutty vocal mix courtesy of Illaman spitting acid rhymes and bringing a different swagger to the plate. Wicky Lindow’s own Noisses also steps up with a wicked electro-tinged Dubstep remix which will tear holes in the dancefloor and please anyone who like their beats broken.

For the flip come the Magnet Men with ‘Emetic’ an absolute beast of a tune with Isaac Howlett on vocals, complementing a brooding and menacing vibe throughout. Snarling bass synths reverberate deep while hypnotic bleeps will puncture even the hardest of souls, and yet again the Magnet Men have come up with a sound so big it could break out your speakerbox and eat you alive.
